“Gasland: The Movie” to Be Shown Sunday in Vergennes
Answers to questions about hydraulic fracturing will be provided by the showing of the film, “Gasland: the Movie” in the Otter Creek Room of the Bixby Memorial Library in Vergennes on Sunday, December 8, at 2:00 p.m. “Gasland: The Movie” is an American documentary film written and directed by Josh Fox. The film focuses on communities in the United States impacted by natural gas drilling. A brief summary of "Gasland 2" will also be provided as an update. Anyone may attend this free event. A time for Q & A will follow.
Throughout the past year a group of Champlain Valley residents has been meeting to learn about the source of natural gas that would flow through the pipeline that is proposed for Addison County. This group is concerned about the pervasive environmental destruction that is being caused by “fracking” and is working to provide factual information for all who should share this concern.
This group’s members count themselves as part of the international grassroots movement to stop fracking and its infrastructure. The Group is encouraged by the action of our Vermont legislature which played an important role in the movement by voting to ban fracking in Vermont, The movement advocates instead immediate investment in clean, renewable energy, the energy of our future which is here now.
Thank you, George Klohck of Middlebury, for sharing this information.
