The Swap Sisters' annual Food Preservation Party! is coming right up on September 10 from 1-5pm at Wheelock Mountain Farm.
Join the Swap Sisters for an exploration of why growing your own, preserving food, and keeping these skills alive is important personally and how it makes an impact in the larger picture of the state of the world today. Workshops will focus on all things related to food preservation. We are still working out the details, but it looks like we will have workshops on root cellaring, dehydrating, northern Chinese food and preserving, making kombucha, working with wild foods, and more. Workshops run from 1-5pm, then we break out the samples for happy hour. Everyone is welcome to bring something homemade to share for sampling- beverages or food. At the happy hour we'll also do a "culture swap". If you have extra cultures such as kefir grains, yogurt culture, kombucha mother, vinegar mother, sourdough....bring some along to share. Please accompany your culture with a label and brief directions.
Supervised children are welcome, however we will not have formal child care provided this year.
The event is by donation- sliding scale $5-$25. No one turned away for lack of funds.
