“Girls Night Out” at Hyde Park Home Day Sept. 16

Past event
Sep 16, 2017

Come and join the Hyde Park Community Circle at Hyde Park Home Day, September 16 from noon to 3:00 p.m. We start off the day with our Grand Parade. From 1:00 - 3:00 p.m., you'll be tapping your toes and singing along with some old favorites with originals thrown in with soothing harmonies!! Check out these three "Girls" from Girls Night Out,!

Carrie Cook (aka Cookie) is a jazz bassist with blues, country and jug band leanings. She learned to play bass as a child with her jazz musician dad. He would bribe her to play when he and his jazz friends needed a bassist during their late night jams. Carrie now plays with a bunch of local bands and throws in kazoo now and then... just for giggles. Debbie Yacovone has spent her adult life bringing music to the local folks from pre-school on up...and up....and up! Having worked at the Manor for the last 11 years (now retired), Debbie's musical repertoire has expanded to different genres and eras. Nancy MacDowell has been enjoying retirement from WLVB for 10 years. During that time she has recorded a couple of CD's, performed in the Ground Hog Opry, and teamed up with Carrie and Debbie to form Girls’ Night Out in 2012. Together they recorded a 4 song sampler CD that will be available at the Hyde Park Home Day event on September 16th. They will be performing from 1-3 pm. Carrie, Nancy and Debbie enjoy singing sweet harmonies on some old favorites as well as original tunes.

Home Day is fortunate to have Nate Perham as our sound man - one of the best in town. Nate will also play a few tunes throughout the afternoon on his guitar, when the "Girls" need a break.

There's a lot happening at Home Day this year, lots of fun family activities (including a bouncy house, miniature golf, obstacle course, scavenger hunt and more. You'll find delicious food from great vendors (VFW, H P Fire Dept., Sweet Crunch & Nepali Cuisine); enjoying tea and scones at our Town Tea Tent; topping off your meal with a delicious ice cream brownie sundae at the Opera House. Mike Wickenden will be pressing apples for cider, so be sure to bring some apples and a jug! There will be many vendors and activities to keep you busy. Please come and join us for Hyde Park Home Day on September 16th. For more information, you can contact Judy Clark at 888-4864 or Deb Henderson at 851-8136, Hyde Park Community Circle.
