Waterbury Rotary's 35th summer of “Concerts in the Park”
Event: August 24th, 2017, 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM

This Thursday, the Waterbury Farmer’s Market sponsors the last FREE Rotary musical concert of the 2017 season at the Rusty Parker Memorial Park in Waterbury Village. Booths will be set up by the Farmer's Market, 3:00 - 7:00 pm. Come early and shop around. Then join the hundreds of family and friends that will be bringing their lawn chairs, blankets, and picnic suppers or purchasing supper from a variety of vendors on site. As usual, the Rotarians will be serving free ice cream while it lasts. During the performance, they will also be selling 50/50 raffle tickets and collecting items for donation to the Waterbury food shelf.

Music this week is provided by the “Beg, Steal or Borrow” who will perform a tribute to the music of Old, and In The Way and Beyond..

Throughout this past June, July and August, these Thursday evening concerts have been presented FREE to the public thanks to the Waterbury Rotary Club and local sponsors, so please give thanks to all the following sponsors of the “2017 Concerts in the Park” series: Jamieson Insurance Agency, Sun Common, Northfield Savings Bank, Napa Auto, Waterbury Veterinary Hospital, Grenier Consulting Engineers, Darby Thorndike Kolter & Nortle Attorneys, The Alchemist, Hannon Home Center, Waterbury Family Dentistry, Arvad’s Grill & Pub, Dave's Community Fitness, Blackback Pub, Waterbury Village Market, Park Row Café, Ben & Jerry’s, the Waterbury Farmer’s Market, Waterbury Record, Waterbury Rotary Club and the Valley Reporter.

When you arrive, take close notice of beautiful condition of the Rusty Parker Park. This past summer, the Waterbury Rotary Club has made it their project to: 1) install new steel gazebo railings fabricated by Bauer Fabrication of Duxbury, 2) prep and paint the white gazebo columns, roof sofit and fascia, paint the bandstand doors and restroom door trim, 3) stain the wood members supporting the gazebo ceiling, 4) upgrade the children’s slide, 4) refurbish the information kiosk and 5) paint the park lampposts. Additionally, 6) with the help of electrician, Dan Cowan, the bandstand and gazebo electrical wiring, switches and lighting have been upgraded to meet the current codes and the local "Master Gardeners" have keep the gardens looking beautiful all summer.

At his final concert of the 2017 season, the Rotary Club members want to recognize and give thanks to Rotarian George Pierce and his wife Ginger for their donation of a new picnic table to the Village of Waterbury for use in the gazebo at Rusty Parker Memorial Park.Check it out!

Happy 80th Anniversary Waterbury Rotary!!! Thank you for the community service by your 36 current and over 275 past members and a thank you Waterbury businesses and this residential community for the generous support since November 17th, 1936, when the Rotary Club first met at George Clement’s Tavern on So. Main Street in Waterbury.
