September 13th
7:00 PM
At the PJC, led by Dr. Emily Bernard in partnership with Vermont Humanities Council
For the last few years the Peace & Justice center has offered readings for the writings of Frederick Douglass. However, this year we wanted to take a look at inter-sectional writings that explore slavery and gender. This year PJC is happy to invite you to a reading of Harriet Ann Jacobs' autobiography Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl. The book recounts Jacobs' life, under the pseudonym Linda Brent, as she fights for freedom and identity for her and her children.
PJC is excited to welcome back Dr. Emily Bernard to lead this discussion. The discussion will be at the Peace & Justice Center on September 13th from 7:00 PM-8:30 PM. You can pick up your free copy of Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl at the PJC to read before the discussion.
This event is in partnership with Vermont Humanities Council.
