Join us at the Hardwick Farmers’ Market at Atkins Field this Friday, August 18, from 3-6 PM! Please bring a shoe box, larger box, or a large cardboard tube and we will provide everything else needed to build your own eclipse viewer (a limited number of shoe boxes will be available if you can’t bring your own). Children under 10 must be accompanied by a parent. If you don’t have time during the market, you can pick up instructions any time the library is open.
AND THEN: Monday, August 21 from 1-4 PM join us at the swinging bridge on Main Street across from the coop where a partial eclipse of the sun will be visible! (If it's not cloudy. Or rainy...) We’ll have a telescope, special viewing glasses, and you'll have a chance to use the viewer you made at the Farmers' Market while you learn about the eclipse. The moon will begin to cover the sun at 1:24 PM. Plan to arrive before 2 so you can watch the moon’s progress across the sun and be prepared to take a look at 2:41, the darkest point, when 60% of the sun will be covered by the moon!
