Summer's not over at the end of August...come paddle the lower Winooski under the full moon on September 6th!
Join the Friends of the Winooski River for the River of Light: Paddling by the Light of the Moon, a 2.5 mile paddle to the mouth of the Winooski and Lake Champlain. Get your friends and family together to start planning the lighting scheme and theme for your boat.
Paddlers will meet at the Heineberg Bridge Access (on the Colchester side of the Rt 127 bridge over the Winooski River) at 6:00 PM. Participants will leave their boats and drive their cars to the take out at the River's End Marina, where participants will organize self-shuttles to come back to the put in. The goal is to launch at sunset (7:15) and paddle from there to Lake Champlain. All paddlers must wear a properly fitted PFD.
Admission is free, however a $10 (or more!) donation to help the Friends of the Winooski River protect and restore the watershed is greatly appreciated. Visit the Friends website for more details including maps: https://winooskiriver.org/river-of-light-moonlight-paddle.php
You can also check out the videos made by the Burlington Free Press and 7Days at last year's event, also on the website.
