Peacham Library will present a talk by Joe Alper -- Climate Change: The Science and the Skeptics – on Thursday, August 24 at 7 pm.

The science of climate change, both theory and evidence, shows that the earth is warming and that this warming is primarily due to human activity. After presenting this science, Joe Alper will argue that we should accept this science as true and therefore are justified in acting to slow and eventually reverse global warming. Finally, he will evaluate the various arguments of the skeptics and deniers.

Dr. Joe Alper is Professor Emeritus of Chemistry at the University of Massachusetts-Boston. His interest in climate change dates from the 1970's when he taught about global warming in a course called "Science for Humane Survival."

Peacham Library programs are free and open to the public. For further information, contact Peacham Library at 592-3216 or peachamlib@fairpoint.net.
