Author and finalist for the 2017 Vermont Book Award, Jensen Beach will be at the Craftsbury Public Library on Monday August 21 from 7-8pm. Beach will be joining participants for the final meeting of "Talk of the Porch" –A *New Yorker* Fiction Discussion Group. Talk of the Porch is a free, drop-in, facilitated discussion about recent fiction in the *New Yorker* led by local writers, Stark Biddle and Julia Shipley. For the past six weeks “Talk of the Porch” participants have considered stories by both acclaimed and emerging writers such as Italo Calvino, William Trevor, Samantha Hunt and Hye-young Pyon. During the final, bonus meeting on August 21st, participants will contemplate Beach's short story, "The Apartment" and have the opportunity to discuss it with the author.
Jensen Beach is the author of two story collections, most recently SWALLOWED BY THE COLD (Graywolf).
He holds an MFA in fiction from the Program for Poets and Writers at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, as well as an MA and BA in English from Stockholm University. He teaches in the BFA program at Johnson State College , where he is the fiction editor at *Green Mountains Review* . He’s also a faculty member in the MFA Program in Writing & Publishing at Vermont College of Fine Arts. His writing has appeared recently in *A Public Space*, the *Paris Review*, and *The New Yorker.* He lives in Vermont.
