Oscar Rodriguez, classical concert pianist and composer, will present a program of music and poetry at St. James’ Episcopal Church on Sunday, August 20 at 3:00PM. Mr. Rodriguez first appeared at St. James’ Church in September 2016 with a delightful program of music for the piano by Mozart, Chopin, Brahms and Liszt. After another year of study in Italy, he is again visiting this area. There is no admission charge and all are invited to attend.
Mr. Rodriguez is an advanced student at the Conservatorio Bruno Maderna, Cesena, Italy, having studied there 8 years. Born in Campeche Mexico in 1989, he is a permanent resident of the United States, residing in Poughkeepsie, NY. He is a 2007 graduate of Arlington, VT High School. At age 16, he began playing classical music by ear and teaching himself to read music. Oscar was accepted into the conservatory in Italy with a high score on his audition, thanks to several years of intense studies in NYC and with the help of pianist Francesco Attesti, his mentor, and Gwendolyn Tibbals, his coach/manager.
