The Northfield Conservation Commission will host a public hike up Paine Mountain on Sunday, August 27th. Please meet at the Green Mountain Family Medical Practice on Paine Mountain Drive (off Crescent Ave) at 9:45 AM to begin hike at 10:00. The hike is approximately 6 miles long with an elevation gain of 1400', of moderate difficulty, and should take about 4 hours.

This will be a great opportunity to visit the Northfield Town Forest, become familiar with its trails, and check out the new bridges and stream crossings that VYCC just installed. We’ll also be identifying trees and ferns along the way, and providing some of the historical background of the Town Forest. Remember to bring a lunch, water, and insect repellent. All are welcome, but please leave dogs at home.
