UVMS Translating Identity Conference

Hello friends!

It’s finally August, and you know what that means – we’re just two months out from The Translating Identity Conference at The University of Vermont! We are currently in the process of designing new merchandise, collaborating with unique vendors, and seeking out our own learning opportunities in order to help make TIC the best it can be. But, we can't make this conference great without you!

TIC explores a wide array of topics in discourses regarding gender and transgender identities, expressions, communities, and intersections; in the past, we've facilitated sessions spanning pre-k to college education, medical care, mental health, athletics, art, and the intersectionalities of gender, class, race, etc. A one-day event, TIC has numerous sessions to choose from at any time that are directed towards people at all levels of inclusion in the trans and allied communities. This conference is a safe space for everyone to come, learn, and enjoy themselves!

People like you help make TIC what it is - the largest and most successful trans conference in New England, completely driven by our community. We rely on your expertise and energy, and have extended the submission deadline for session proposals to AUGUST 15, 2017. Please read on for more information regarding our keynote speaker, participant/volunteer registration, call for proposals, and vendor/tabling registration.

As always, drop us a line at tic@UVM.edu if you need anything at all, or visit our website go.UVM.edu/tic for more detailed information. I apologize that hyperlinks do not work in this posting, but all information can be found on our website go.UVM.edu/tic

KEYNOTE 2017 – CHRIS MOSIER
Chris Mosier is an award-winning athlete, founder of TransAthlete.com, and the Vice President of You Can Play. We are beyond thrilled to be welcoming Chris as our keynote speaker this fall; please help us give him a warm welcome! Learn more about Chris by visiting his website.

PARTICIPANT AND VOLUNTEER REGISTRATION
Want to attend the largest trans-specific conference in the Northeast? Now’s your chance! Registration is FREE - but space is limited - so save your spot by signing up today. Every year the committee relies on passionate, dedicated volunteers to help the day run smoothly. We need your help with everything from check-in and selling swag to making sure folks fill out evaluation forms for sessions. If you’re interested in volunteering, please let us know!

CALL FOR PROPOSALS
TIC is a community-driven endeavor that relies on the wisdom and knowledge of queer folks and our allies to make it happen. Propose a session or workshop and have the chance to share your work on a national platform. To get an idea of the types of sessions offered last year, including workshops, lectures, and caucuses, check out 2016’s program.

VENDOR AND TABLING REGISTRATION
Looking for the chance to get the word out about your group, or to sell swag to nearly 1000 people in a day? Register to become a vendor or have a table. If you have questions about the registration form, including the sliding scale fee, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Thank you for your continued support of this crucial conference; we look forward to seeing you soon!

In solidarity,
The TIC Committee

PS. we are currently looking for corporate sponsors and financial donations as well as donations of food/goods/gift cards for raffle prizes and speaker thank-yous.
