This is the final summer concert of the St. Johnsbury Band; all donations will go to support the Melissa Jenkins Scholarship fund at St. Johnsbury Academy known as “The Melissa Jenkins Citizen Prize.” Previous concerts have now raised over $1000 for this scholarship which is awarded annually at St. Johnsbury Academy Commencement to a male and female graduating senior. The students are selected by the faculty and possess similar qualities as those of Melissa – kind, hard-working, and always willing to help. Hear a fun concert and enjoy some ice cream.
The concert and ice cream social are free and open to the public; the ice cream social is sponsored by NVRH and will offer 3 tubs of ice cream, with a 4th tub given by the Community National Bank.
The concert will feature Rodger’s & Hammerstein’s ‘The Sound of Music’ along with a specialty piece ‘Teddy Bear’s Picnic’ (complete with bear growls!), historic marches, ‘St. Louie Blues’ an overture and a clarinet feature ‘Clarinet Candy.’
