41st Christmas at Christ Church: Reprise Performance

Past event
Dec 15, 2013, 4 to 5:15 PM

Friends of Music at Guilford (FOMAG) presents its 41st Christmas at Christ Church program in that historic Rt. 5 structure, overlooking the Algiers Village in Guilford, on December 13 & 15; the Friday performance is at 8:00 pm and the Sunday performance at 4:00 pm. Door donations, as usual, are shared with the Christ Church Preservation Fund. This season the 16-voice Guilford Chamber Singers, under the direction of Tom Baehr, will perform "Brightest & Best: Music to Welcome the Holy Child," a program of mostly a cappella selections from across the centuries, including some traditional carols and texts that have been reset by modern composer-arrangers. A small group of Guilford Chamber Players, led by Amy Cann, will provide instrumental interludes, and Don McLean will read Jean Stewart McLean's "C-H-R-I-S-T-M-A-S Spells Mother," a story from "Sparks," his late mother's recently published volume of short fiction, plays, and poetry. The program will end with a few carols for everyone. Friends of Music will also offer its 2014 Calendar of fine art from recent program books and posters, several card lines, totes, and sweatshirts for holiday gift-giving. For further information, call the FOMAG office at 802-254-3600 or email office@fomag.org.
