Past event
Sep 16, 2017, 12 to 3 PM

Test your strength against a 757 aircraft and fight cancer at the American Cancer Society Pulling For Hope 2.0 featuring FedEx NASCAR at Burlington International Airport in collaboration with FedEx Express and Heritage Aviation on Saturday, September 16, 12 – 3 p.m. Teams pre-register for the chance to compete in the ultimate tug of war with a plane while raising funds to support lifesaving cancer research and patient programs and services for Vermonters.

Pulling For Hope offers organizations, businesses, friends, and colleagues the opportunity to join together in a friendly competition, build camaraderie, and raise funds to help eliminate the pain and suffering of cancer.

The event is limited to 20 teams of 25 members per team. Each team participant will raise a minimum of $100. Online tools are available to make fundraising easy. The team to pull the 757 aircraft 12 feet in the fastest time will win a prize package. The event is open to ages 12 and older.

TUG-A-Nators Team Captain Benjamin Myers from Heritage Aviation explains, “What an experience! The nervous energy was a very real thing and it was everywhere in the air before our turn to pull. That airplane is so big and I swear it got even bigger when it was our turn to pull. There is NO WAY we can move this thing! But we did. All of us working together to move that giant aircraft was a feeling that I will never forget. What a great day.”

Pulling For Hope 2.0 is made possible thanks to collaboration between the American Cancer Society, FedEx Express, Burlington International Airport, and Heritage Aviation and our sponsors: News Talk 620, WVMT; 95 Triple X; Comcast Spotlight; JetBlue; Grunts Move Junk; UNO's Pizzeria & Grill; Greene Mountain Nutrition & Smoothies; 802CrossFit; Sommers Chiropractic Services, Avalon Tents, Myers Waste & Recycle; Mountain Transit; and P&P Septic.
