All are welcome to the upcoming 82nd Annual East Poultney Day, on Saturday, August 12th, 2017, 9am-4pm. This year’s theme is “Celebrating Music in Our Community--A Salute to Ruth Czar.” Ruth Czar, who sadly passed away this past October, was a long-time active member and ex-President of the Poultney Historical Society. Many of you may remember her love of music and deep knowledge about Poultney’s past. We’ve chosen to honor her memory by filling the day with music performances of many genres by local musicians to bring the town’s musical expressions to life. The day will also feature Vermont Humanities Council sponsored speaker Dr. William Tortolano, with the program, “A Vermont Music Sampler” which will explore the significant and fascinating musical folklore of Vermont, and will include a demonstration on one of the Poultney Historical Society’s melodeons. As always, this event is FREE, and will include a full day of activities, games, food, and, of course, music for the entire family to enjoy on our historic town green. Up to 40 local vendors will be selling crafts and folk arts, collectibles, antiques, seasonal produce, baked goods, maple syrup, jams, herbal soaps, handmade pottery, and jewelry, as well.
