Living in Harmony with Streams

Next Monday, there will be a free presentation on the dynamics of Vermont's streams and rivers. The event will be on Monday, December 2, from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at the Richmond Free Library. Ann Smith, is Executive Director of the Friends of the Winooski, a non-profit organization dedicated to the restoration and protection of the Winooski River and its tributaries: Living in Harmony with Streams: A Citizen’s Handbook to How Streams Work..The handbook is aimed at helping residents, businesses and communities find the strategies and resources needed to maintain the health of the state’s waterways while protecting property and recreational opportunities.

The presentation will be hosted by of the Science to Action Project, a collaborative effort by the Towns of Bolton, Huntington, Jericho and Richmond to identify important natural resources and explore strategies that individual landowners and towns as a whole can take to better steward them. Coming in January, the project will be sharing the results of their region-wide natural resource mapping efforts in each town.
