Volunteers Needed for a Habitat for Humanity Project
The United Church of Craftsbury on the Common, through Habitat for Humanity, has raised funds to financially assist a Craftsbury homeowner replace the old shingle roof on his home with a new metal roof.
Habitat has assessed the roof and is organizing the materials, personnel and a very small no interest loan to the homeowner, along with the donated funds.
So, now we need volunteers to donate labor and / or equipment to the cause! The roof replacement will happen Sat., Aug. 19th, all day. A person can work all day, ½ day, or even just a couple hours.
Habitat would like 10 people; two crews of five, one crew on each side of the roof. Each crew would have three people on the roof and two as ground support. So, those who cannot be on a roof could still help out!
Lunch will be provided by Cheryl Crytzer!
Habitat will have a tool trailer there, but items that we would still need would be:
- Scaffolding and Aluminum planking (the longer the better) or wood planking - we can pick this up from you on Friday and return on Sunday
- Two Aluminum ladders 18’ - 20’ long on the roof (The roof is 18’ x 45’, with a 12/12 pitch and shingles currently on it)
- Other Extension ladders
- Roofing Brackets
- Tarp for Ground debris
- Battery operated Drills and battery chargers
- Tool belts with a drill hook
