Healthy skin, glossy hair and most of all radiant eyes can be indicators of a person's state of health. It is scientifically known that the more living enzymes you consume through food, the more you eradicate disease and cleanse your body. Your glowing eyes show more than outer beauty, but also inner vitality.
Recently Mehurons has been carrying fresh figs in the produce section - what a delightful rare find! Figs are incredibly high in calcium and are a good natural laxative. When the ripe figs aren't available in the local grocery store, the dried Black Mission Figs will also work well. Add them with grapes, one of the most cleansing fruits full of vitamins and minerals and you have an amazing cleansing shake that is delicious too! The skin of grapes contain resveratrol which is known to inhibit cancer growth and protect against coronary heart disease. Remember to get organic grapes as grapes are one of the twelve most toxic foods that you must buy organic according to The Environmental Working Group. My family had this fig and grape cleansing shake this morning - so refreshing and energizing!
4 cups of green or red organic grapes (preferably with seeds)
1 cup of dried or fresh figs (with stems cut off)
1 cup of filtered water
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/8 teaspoon ground star anise (or cinnamon)
Pinch of sea salt
2 cups of ice cubes
Put everything in a powerful blender like a Vita-Mix and blend until smooth.
