Native Voices: a Traveling Encampment

Everyone is invited to the Traveling Encampment on the Fletcher Free Library lawn on Sunday, July 30 at 2:00. The program features storytelling and music from Native American, Bedouin and Palestinian performers who are traveling with a tipi and a Bedouin tent.

Participants are Chief Donald Stevens, (the Nulhegan Band of the Coosuk - Abenaki Nation and storyteller from northern Vermont), Travis Harden (Lakota Hochunk storyteller, artist, and Native American singer), Alber Baseel (Palestinian percussionist from Burlington’s sister city of Bethlehem, Occupied West Bank/Palestine), Khalil Alamour (Bedouin lawyer, historian, and community leader from Alsira in the Negev/Naqab, Israel), and Saber Shreim (Palestinian actor from Jenin, Occupied West Bank/Palestine).

This free event, which is suitable for all ages, is sponsored by Tree of Life Educational Fund (tolef.org) and Vermonters for Justice in Palestine (vtjp.org).
