Members and friends of the Robinson Sawmill are invited to attend the organization's Annual Meeting, to be held at the Calais Town Hall, 7 PM, on Thursday, July 27. There will be discussion of ambitious and exciting plans to make the Sawmill operational for demonstration purposes and to develop educational programming for all ages. Restoration plans include work on the historic mill building, removal of accumulated silt from the mill pond, reinforcement of the dam, and rebuilding of the penstock. The proposed restoration is is currently under review by the VT Agency of Natural Resources.
Some changes to the organization's bylaws are proposed, including the method of selecting officers and filling vacancies on the Board between annual meetings.
The Robinson Sawmill is believed to be the only operable water-powered sawmill in Vermont. It is a significant historic resource, worthy of public support . Anyone interested is welcome to attend this event. Check out the website at www.robinsonsawmill.org.
