Native Voices: A Traveling Encampment
Everyone is invited to the Traveling Encampment on the Fletcher Free Library lawn on Sunday, July 30 at 2:00. The program features storytelling and music from Native American, Bedouin and Palestinian performers who are traveling with a tipi and a Bedouin tent.
Participants are Joseph Bruchac (Abenaki writer, musician, and storyteller from the Adirondack Mountains, New York), Travis Harden (Lakota Hochunk storyteller, artist, and Native American singer), Alber Baseel (Palestinian percussionist from Burlington’s sister city of Bethlehem, Occupied West Bank/Palestine), Khalil Alamour (Bedouin lawyer, historian, and community leader from Alsira in the Negev/Naqab, Israel), and Saber Shreim (Palestinian actor from Jenin, Occupied West Bank/Palestine).
This free event, which is suitable for all ages, is sponsored by Tree of Life Educational Fund (tolef.org) and Vermonters for Justice in Palestine (vtjp.org).
