The next program in Jeudevine Library’s “Pushing the Limits” series is on the theme of Knowledge and features THE MARTIAN by Andy Weir on Wednesday, Aug. 9th at 7 PM. Local bat and butterfly guru, Jerry Schneider, will lead this discussion about astronaut Mark Watney whose team leaves him on Mars thinking he is dead. He then has to use all of his skills: botany, engineering, physical and psychological endurance, technology and math in order to survive. It is a gripping, sometimes funny, fast-pace sci-fi thriller.
The library had 10 free, new copies of the book to give away. There are 2 left. The first 2 people to call the library will get them. Anyone else can come to the library and check-out a copy the library has from Interlibrary Loan. There will be a Door Prize. The winner will get a $20.00 Gift certificate to the Galaxy Bookshop.
This program is part of a series of book discussions and talks dealing with science which is supported by a grant from the National Science Foundation. To learn more about the series go to www.jeudevinememoriallibrary.org or call the library at 472-5948. There will be desserts from the Magic Spoon Bakery with lemonade.
