Last Musicale of 250th Anniversary Year Celebration

This Sunday, Nov. 24, at 3 p.m. in the United Church of Colchester on Main Street in the Village, the 250th Anniversary Committee will present its last "Musicale" of this celebratory year of the signing of Colchester's Charter in 1763. Finishing in grand style will be a performance by three accomplished musicians - Jason Whitcomb on trumpet, Lori Salimando-Porter on trombone, accompanied by Frank Whitcomb on piano. Lori is back having retired as the Principal Trombonist with the U.S. Military Academy Band at West Point. She has also played with the U.S. Marine Band, the U.S. Naval Academy Band, several national symphonies and currectly performs with Fanfare, the Vermont Symphony Brass Trio and the Constitution Brass Quintet. She also teaches low brass privately. Jason plays with the Vermont Symphony Orchestra and Colchesterites know his Dad Frank Whitcomb for his long relationship as the accompanist to the Colchester Community Chorus, under the direction of Carol Reichard. Their performance on Sunday will include "Nocturno, Op. 7, by Franz Strauss; "Rose Variations" by Robert Russell Bennett, and "Fandango," by Joseph Turrin, among other selections. This event is again free and open to the public and refreshments will follow. Please come.
