League of Vermont Writers Announces 2nd Biennial
INTO THE WORDS Summer Writing Retreat and Member Showcase
Burlington, VT – This July 22 marks the League of Vermont Writers’ 2nd Biennial INTO THE WORDS writing program and member showcase. For this daylong retreat, the League will be returning to author Jerry Johnson’s scenic, historic schoolhouse farm on Creek Road in Irasburg, Vermont. The property was recently featured in a stunning five-page spread in the pages of Vermont Magazine. It was a comfortable, inspiring location for the last INTO THE WORDS meeting. Please visit http://www.vtpoet.com/vermont-magazine-story.php for the full article.
The program is open to all genres, and both published and pre-published writers are welcome. This year’s INTO THE WORDS will include half-hour and hour-long presentations and workshops led by League members. Sessions will focus on various elements of writing, publishing, and book marketing.
Registration is $25 for members and $35 for non-members. For details and registration, visit the LVW website at www.leagueofvermontwriters.org.
In the earliest days of the League of Vermont Writers, programs for members were about gathering to share ideas and to spend time together. In 2015, a special subcommittee orchestrated this summer event to bring LVW back to its roots. Purposefully named INTO THE WORDS playing off the hit-musical Into the Woods, the committee wanted to create that feeling of getting lost in the thing that the members love the most, words—and with people who share that adoration, other writers.
The day will include an ice-cream social provided by the League, and a bring-your-own-bagged-lunch picnic, an ideal opportunity to network and take in the scenery. At any point in the program, attendees can skip a session and opt to write, socialize with other writers, or explore the pastoral setting.
