Mayfly (Katie Trautz and Julia Wayne), an Americana/Old-time duo, is a Vermont based band that performs old-time New England and Appalachian music, as well as original songwriting on guitar, fiddle, mandolin, banjo and vocals. Mayfly has been performing for over 12 years, touring throughout the USA and Canada. Mayfly intersperses close harmony vocals with strong instrumentals influenced by blues, ballads, and American roots music. Most recently, Mayfly has celebrated the release of their third album called 'Sweet is the Morning'. In light of the girls' new journeys into motherhood, the duo has developed a children's show, including songs by Woody Guthrie, the Carter Family, and Elizabeth Mitchell.

CD Review: http://www.sevendaysvt.com/vermont/mayfly-sweet-is-the-morning/Content?oid=2340700

"The CD is full of luscious examples of two women who are absolutely comfortable singing together, whether accompanied by instruments or not, and it's a shivering delight to hear them harmonize. Their lovely a cappella version of A.P. Carter's "The Birds Are Singing of You" is as natural as breathing, and is one of the disc's highlights." - Robert Resnik, VPR (Vermont Public Radio, All the Traditions)

"The release of Sweet Is the Morning is reason to celebrate. Wayne and Trautz are living proof that folk music is alive and well in Vermont and, happily, being played and nurtured by talented young musicians. Catch Mayfly live while you can, before we find that they're touring the world..." -Robert Resnik, VPR (Vermont Public Radio, All the Traditions)
