Join us rain or shine in Fairlee on Tuesday, July 18th for a free performance by Moment's Notice Trio.
The Moment's Notice Trio is a jazz combo dedicated to the performance of great standards from the American popular music songbook. The musicians include Gary Matthews on bass, Steve Blair on guitar, and Bear Irwin on trombone and piano. The group may be best known for providing music for many years for guests at the Basin Harbor Club. Altogether, the musicians have several decades of teaching experience; Gary Matthews taught music in northeastern Vermont for over 25 years, Steve Blair served as chair of the Johnson State College Music Department for many years, and Bear Irwin has taught music at all levels since the 1970s. These musicians also perform with the Vermont Jazz Ensemble and other groups in Vermont.
The concert will be on the Fairlee Town Common from 6:30-8:00pm. Bring a lawn chair or blanket to sit on. In the event of bad weather, the rain site is the Fairlee Community Church of Christ, located adjacent the common.
A free prize drawing, featuring items donated by local businesses, will take place during intermission, and everyone who attends the concert is eligible to participate at no cost.
This is the third in a series of 7 weekly Tuesday night concerts in Fairlee. Everyone is welcome, including residents of Fairlee and neighboring towns, tourists, relatives, and others. Bring a friend! For a list of all concerts in the series, check out fairleemusic.org.
The Fairlee Community Music Series is made possible by the Jack & Dorothy Byrne Foundation, Northstar Fireworks, Wells River Savings Bank, Sargent Artesian Wells, and additional support from private donors.
