Join us for a spirited outdoor production of Shakespeare's HAMLET!
To see or not to see? Finally an answerable question! This summer go see The Chelsea Funnery’s high energy, fast-paced, lyrically infused version of Shakespeare’s Hamlet. This ensemble production is alive with the embodied world of the mind. Using movement, puppetry, inventive staging and song, actors age 12-18 bring alive the inner doubts, questions, ponderings, and action of a community mad with grief, power, and love. Villains usurp the throne, ghosts cry revenge, young lovers are torn apart, and clowns bury the dead in this riveting and timeless tale. These electric young actors plumb the depths of this well-known text to wrestle the questions of motivation, justice, revenge, and madness! And for those afraid of spoiling their dinner with too much drama, the ensemble never fails to whip up a delightful froth of slapstick gravediggers, pun-ishable sidekicks, and other gleeful hilarity that may or may not be approved of by the Bard.
Hamlet will be performed outdoors Friday, July 21st at 6:00 pm, and Saturday, July 22nd at 5:00 pm with the pep, verve, and physicality that audiences have come to expect from this lively and thoughtful group of young people in the 16 years of the program’s history. Performances will be held at The Tunbridge School on Route 110. Rain location is at the Chelsea Town Hall. More information at www.thechelseafunnery.com
