La Soiree Sucree

Past event
Jul 27, 2017, 5 to 8:30 PM

This year, the Sweet Evening is sponsored by Delicate Decadence Cake Boutique in honor of the late Chet Briggs, long time President of the Barre Historical Society for the benefit of the Society and the Barre Heritage Festival.

The evening is divided into three exciting components—all for one low price.

French Dessert Competition
At 5:00 pm, before the doors open to the public, contestants who fancy the quality of their French desserts will have their desserts judged by a panel of professional judges. There are three ways to enter the competition:
- On July 27, bring your dessert to Delicate Decadence (15 Cottage Street, Barre) by 4:00 pm.
- On July 27, bring your dessert to the Old Labor Hall no later than 5:00 pm.
No late entrants will be allowed to enter the competition.

French Dessert Tasting
After the judging, at 5:30 pm, the doors will open to the public. This is your opportunity to sample the contest entries supplemented by more delicious desserts provided by the chefs of Delicate Decadence. Bon appétit!

French-Canadian music performed by Va-et-vient, (Come & Go),
At 6:00 pm, Va-et-vient, a trio comprised of Carol Reed, Suzanne Germain, and Lausanne Allen hailing from Addison County will take you from 16th century France to New Orleans and Québec with lively reels, touching love songs, kickin’ Cajun tunes, and rollicking Québecois favorites. From neighbors to the north, they bring back new old tunes learned from Québecois elders (and youngsters!), reweave them into their own arrangements, and have been spreading them throughout New England and Québec since 2001. Venez chanter avec nous !
