This Saturday Norman Williams Public Library will host a free presentation about raptor nest building in conjunction with this year’s Summer Reading Program. An educator from the Vermont Institute of Natural Science (VINS) will be on hand with three raptors to explain how humans aren’t the only creatures that build amazing homes for their families.
Nesting season is the most important time of the year for bird populations. Learn what to do if you find a baby bird, and what bird parents are busy doing at this of time year, and how we can help them out. A discussion of NestWatch, a citizen scientist conservation project, will also be presented.
This program is suitable for children ages 4 and up with accompanying adult. Because of the live birds, attendees must stay seated and calm for this 45 minute presentation. Contact The NWPL Children’s Circulation Desk for more information, 802-457-2295 x102.
