How do we bring the dharma (teachings of the Buddha), our meditation practice, and our spiritual path into a world filled with injustice? How do we bridge the world of spirit and activism?
Over the course of 5 weeks we will explore the book, Radical Dharma written by two powerful Black, queer, Buddhist teachers. Published a year ago, this book demonstrates the link between social transformation and personal spiritual liberation.
From the Radical Dharma website: "Igniting a long-overdue dialogue about how the legacy of racial injustice and white supremacy plays out in society at large and Buddhist communities in particular, this urgent call to action outlines a new dharma that takes into account the ways that racism and privilege prevent our collective awakening."
We will meet for 5 Tuesdays beginning July 18th from 5:30-6:30pm. We will begin each session with 15-20 minutes of meditation. Instruction will be provided and all levels of experience are welcome. The rest of the time will be discussion of the book under the guidance of the facilitator, Alex Vlasic.
