The Friends of the Winooski River, Winooski Valley Park District, and the City of Winooski are proud to announce a new community event: the Winooski Pedal and Paddle, to be held on Sunday, July 23rd from 9:45am to 3:30pm.
Participants will first drop off their boats in Winooski then drive to Ethan Allen Homestead to park their vehicles. The 7-mile loop course begins with a 4-mile bike from the Ethan Allen Homestead through the Intervale to Winooski. In Winooski, you will park your bike and launch in your canoe or kayak for a 3-mile paddle from the Salmon Hole area in Winooski back to the Homestead. Bring a picnic lunch and enjoy games and music at the Homestead after you finish the course. You may bring your own beer or wine for use at the Homestead, but no glass and no dispensing; for personal use only. No alcohol will be allowed on bikes or in boats.
Registration fees are: $20 (ages 17 & up); $12 (ages 10 to 16); free under 10. After July 21st, fees increase to $30 (17 & up) and $22 (10-16). All proceeds fund the protection and restoration the Winooski River watershed. For more details and to register visit www.winooskirec.com and click Register Now.
