Rick Winston will present an illustrated talk on “Classic American Films of the Fifties” at the Unadilla Theater, East Calais, on Monday, July 10 at 7:00.
Many people assume that very little of lasting cultural value came out of the 1950s. It was actually a very rich time for film. Clips will include works by directors Billy Wilder, Alfred Hitchcock, Orson Welles, and George Cukor. Rick will discuss the economic and political pressures on the Hollywood studio system, the increasing competition of television, and the rise of a new generation of actors and directors.
Admission is by donation. For more information, call 454-7103.
