Kids Mad River Rainbow Run - Saturday Night

Past event
Jul 8, 2017, 6 to 7 PM

July 8th - the night before the Marathon there is a KIDS Mad River Rainbow Run on the Mad River Green. Participants will run through colored powder. (The colors are made in the USA with high quality cornstarch and food dyes. All materials are 100% FD&C and/or D&C grade and approved by the US FDA).

Here are some tips for the kids:
1) Wear glasses, sunglasses, or goggles.
2) Wear a white T shirt so the colors show well.
3) Anyone who has asthma, is allergic to any of the ingredients or has any respiratory issues should exercise caution when participating in color powder events.

This event is free to participate in but donations are appreciated and accepted. If you'd like to buy a T shirt to wear while running they will be available in adult size small for $5. Please bring cash for those.

The color supplier's info on the powder's staining is as follows "Our color powder washes out of most clothing. However, it can stain some materials. 100% cotton clothing is recommended and typical machine washing with stain remover, removes the stains. We recommend removing excess powder from clothing before washing and/or applying water" and "Just as with clothing we recommend shaking off all excess powder before exposing to water. Normal soap and water should remove color powder from skin and hair. Some color does tend to linger for a few days especially on blonde hair. If you are worried about staining, we recommend applying a moisturizer to skin and coating your hair with a small amount of coconut or olive oil before the event."

We suggest everyone close to/spectating the race also wear clothing that can have the powder on it.

Registration is at 6 pm. Race starts at 6:30 pm. All runners will receive a Mad Marathon medal as they cross the finish line. For more info on the Marathon weekend events please see the Valley Reporter 6/29/17 issues page 16 or visit http://www.madmarathon.com.
