Bike Event This Saturday

Lincoln Residents,
If you have seen signs around town, announcing a bike event on Saturday, July 1, it is the Vermont Gran Fondo. This is an annual 100-mile long distance challenge over 4 mountain gaps. There are also some shorter loops and event organizers are expecting a large number of participants. Please use caution while navigating the roads that day, especially if you are pulling out of side roads or driveways on the downhill side of routes such as Lincoln Gap Road, Downingsville Road, and Quaker Street. Cyclists may appear very quickly and you may not hear them coming.

The courses all start and finish in Middlebury, so this will affect travel in New Haven, Bristol, Starksboro, Buells Gore, Waitsfield, Warren, and Ripton areas that day, not just Lincoln. Because of the length of the routes, riders will be stretched out through most of the day.

This event is organized by Cycle Addison County, Inc. with support from local business sponsors. There will be participants from far and wide, as well as a few people from Lincoln. We are hoping that by increased awareness, it will be a safe and pleasurable experience for all. If you are able to pause in your day and cheer for any of the riders passing you, I'm sure they could use a little encouragement to keep pedaling! For more details and information, you can check out the VT Gran Fondo website: http://vermontgranfondo.com/about/ Thank you for sharing the road!
