FOLA Joins Ludlow Merchants to Alleviate Walker Bridge Outage Impact

The total replacement of the Walker Bridge in Ludlow is causing Route 103 traffic to detour around the Main Street businesses of Ludlow Village.

Not to be deterred by the construction, the effected Village businesses are planning on making the week before the Fourth of July a busy week in Ludlow.

As part of this program, FOLA (Friends of Ludlow Auditorium) has joined with the Merchants to offer something Ludlow hasn't seen in many years: a double feature movie.

The movies will take place on Friday, June 30 at 7 PM in the Ludlow Town Hall Auditorium.

The first feature will be the smash film, "Back to the Future". With the help of a wacky scientist (Christopher Lloyd), a young teen (Michael J. Fox) travels back to 1955 in a Delorean turned time-machine. Once there, he meets his parents, still teenagers, but his presence throws things out-of-whack and he must ensure they fall in love and get married or else he'll never come to exist.

Concluding the double feature will be "Jailhouse Rock". This features young Vince Everett (Elvis Presley) who goes to prison for accidentally killing a man in a barroom brawl while defending a young woman's honor. After Everett's cellmate teaches him how to play guitar and encourages him to sing, Everett's swiveling, electrifying performance at a jailhouse concert leads to stardom. But fame quickly gives Everett an oversized ego, and only the loss of his voice and the loyalty of his friends as he struggles to sing again teach Everett to appreciate his good fortune.

The movies are free and will feature popcorn, courtesy of Berkshire Bank, along with water, supplied by FOLA. For information call the Book Nook at 802-228-3238.
