VFFC will be offering this locally sourced meal with seasonal produce every Thursday evening the rest of June & July. Our goal in serving this meal is to provide an opportunity for more of the Rutland community to experience & enjoy the freshness & better taste of locally grown produce in season. The weekly dinner provides an occasion for eating local food as an experience in community and the French concept of “terroir”- the belief that where our food comes from does matter. We do appreciate the hard working farmers providing us with real life giving nourishment.
Vermont Farmers Food Center (VFFC) is the initiative of the Vermont Farmers Market Education Center, Inc., a 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization founded in Rutland, Vermont in 2012. In collaboration with the Vermont Farmers Market (VFM), VFFC serves as a grassroots, volunteer-led ongoing infrastructure project, serving as an agricultural economic engine & promoting job opportunity right in the heart of Downtown Rutland. VFFC, which hosts the Vermont Winter Farmers Market at 251 West Street, is strengthening the local food economy in Rutland County which will expand food access and markets thus creating the need for better storage, aggregation, and distribution of locally produced and value added agricultural products.
