How do language and popular culture create a climate of bias and bullying? How do children and adults learn violence and antisocial attitudes, and how can we begin transforming ourselves and our world to create a prosocial society? Come hear social scientist and social justice activist Mimi Yahn discuss her groundbreaking work on bullying, as well as the results of her research tracking levels of hate speech and bias language on primetime television. Yahn will also present ways to create a new social paradigm rooted in equality, participatory democracy and loving community. Half-hour presentation followed by discussion.
