The Salisbury Congregational Church will present an evening celebrating the French heritage in Vermont with a performance by the Addison-County-based trio Va-Et-Vient. Carol Reed, Suzanne Germaine, and Lausanne Allen combine their vocal harmonies, guitar, mandolins, fiddles, flutes, and percussion to explore a repertoire of music with Francophone roots, from 16th century France, to Cajun New Orleans, to Quebec. Their reels, love songs, and rollicking tunes bring back old traditions rewoven into their own arrangements.
This will be the fifth event in Salisbury’s thirty-eighth Summer Performance Series that will run on Friday evenings until August 11 at the historic, but handicapped accessible, 1838 church in Salisbury Village. There is no admission charge; a free-will donation in support of the series will be appreciated. Any receipts in excess of the expenses for the series will be applied to the continued restoration of Salisbury’s landmark meetinghouse.
