On Saturday, November 16 from 9-3 members and friends of the Congregational Church of South Hero will be outside of Keeler's Bay Variety to collect food for the Champlain Islands Food Shelf. The Food Shelf is located at the Grand Isle United Methodist Church and provides free food to people in need. As the weather turns and people need to buy fuel to stay warm the need at the Food Shelf increases. With the reduction this month in the federal Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program more people than ever are turning to food shelves for help.

There will be items available at KBV to purchase and donate directly to the Food Shelf. If you have items at home that you would like to donate, please bring those too. Some donation ideas include: canned baked beans (not vegetarian), peanut butter, hearty soups, beef stew, chili, macaroni and cheese, spaghetti and spaghetti sauce, baking mixes (pumpkin bread, cranberry bread, rolls…etc).
