Democracy Summer kickoff event at the Plainfield Community Center, Friday, June 16, 6:00 PM.
Rights and Democracy (RAD), whose mission is to bring people together in building a popular movement to work for human and civil rights, environmental justice and a stable climate, will be hosting this event. It is an opportunity for central Vermont residents to discuss how they are working to advance a more just and sustainable future and to tie into the larger movement. Activists and people interested in learning how to get involved are invited.
The agenda will include a 20 minute webinar with leaders of RAD, Our Revolution, and Democracy Summer discussing several statewide organizing efforts, and a video with Bill McKibben. Local activists will present short descriptions of their work. The remainder of the session will be an opportunity to have a lightly facilitated community discussion regarding the issues raised and other concerns. Come prepared to share your ideas and concerns, or to just listen and find out how you might become involved.
The Plainfield community center is above the Plainfield Food Co-op, near the fire station.
