Is your compost stuck in a rut? Have you wanted to try composting but haven’t got to it yet? Whether you’re a newbie or veteran composter, this free backyard composting workshop offered by the Central Vermont Solid Waste Management District will strengthen your understanding of how food scraps can turn into beautiful soil.

Thanks to a grant from the Vermont Department of Environmental Conservation, we will be able to offer our Soil Savers and Green Cones at half price for workshop participants, limit – 1 per participant. Soil Savers will be $25, Green Cones, $60.

What: Free Backyard Composting Workshop
When: Saturday, June 17, 10 am – 11:30 a.m.
Why: Brush up on your composting skills, get ready for Vermont’s Universal Recycling Law which bans food scraps from the landfill by 2020, learn how to turn food scraps into “black gold” – get a half-priced composter or learn how to make your own, have fun!

Each participant will receive a 5-quart kitchen counter top pail and the booklet “The Dirt on Composting.”
