Plant Sale

Accepting donations for Annual Plant Sale: annual & perennial veggie and flower plants, herbs, shrubs & bushes, gently used garden items, local eggs, asparagus, rhubarb, horseradish.

Be sure to COME to the Friends of the Bixby Annual Plant Sale, Sat. June 3 9 AM to 1 PM at the Bixby Memorial Library, 258 Main St., Vergennes.

A “Friend” is donating gourmet paste tomato San Marzano plants. Other selections include donations from Paul Sokol of Addison Gardens, Red Wagon Plants, and First Seasons Greenhouses. Sokol also returns this year to be the “expert-on-hand” in the plant department offering free advice for your perennial purchases.

This year, Joy Jackson will be on hand with merchandise from Country Home Products to enhance your gardening experience. Buy cedar mulch donated from Vergennes Aubuchons, locally produced mulch hay donated by Jim McClay and Pleasant Valley Farm (Van De Weert) baled straw to expand your horticultural experience . (Make a straw bale garden a la Charlie Nardozzi)

The Used Book Sale will be open and has a wide assortment of books and magazines of gardening, cooking, backyard wildlife, home decorating and birding. There is also a wide variety of adult and children’s books of all topics at bargain prices (25 cents - $2.00). You will also find CD fiction audiobooks and various Vermont-themed books, subjects, and authors.

Students from Vergennes Union High School will provide assistance in loading these items. For additional information or where to donate items, call Karlene 877-6392 or deliver to the Bixby Library Friday, June 2.
