Plainfield Hazard Mitigation Committee
Agenda - Regular Meeting
6 p.m., May 18th at Municipal Building
1. Review of Minutes from prior meeting.
2. Planning for June 10th "Know Your Brook" public discussion about the dynamics & hydraulics of the Great Brook. This presentation and river walk will take place in the afternoon.
3. A brief discussion about the community dynamics of dealing with disasters (and wars) as written by journalist Sebastian Junger… author of Tribe.
4. A quick review of a CVRPC action plan for Plainfield's most inadequate bridge infrastructure, as researched and put forward by Pam D'Andrea on behalf of FEMA.
5. Preliminary collaborative design of a joint Hazard Mitigation Committee/Emergency Management Director direct to-every-household mailing… discussing immediate steps for household disaster prep as well as planning evacuations at times of spreading fires, HazMat spills and flood risk.
The more response to this the better, as we want to collaborate with households so they feel prepared & clear about how to get out of harm’s way. There will be a mail-back portion where people can ask special assistance or point out hazards that might affect the work of fire fighters.
