Foresters, loggers, and landowners are encouraged to attend to a workshop and site visit to discuss forest water quality on May 23, 2017 from 9:00 am - 12:00 pm, beginning at Waterville Town Hall, Waterville, VT located at 850 VT Route 109.
Buffer Widths? Stream Crossings? Water Bars? Logging practices to protect water quality may often be second nature to forest managers but what are they exactly? Join VT Forests, Parks & Recreation’s, David Wilcox, Watershed Forester, and Rick Dyer, Lamoille County Forester, to review the revisions to the Acceptable Management Practices (AMPs) for Maintaining Water Quality on Logging Jobs in Vermont. A morning presentation will outline some of the updates to the AMPs, and then participants will drive to a private forest in Belvidere for a site visit that demonstrates some of these practices.
Kim Jensen, from Lamoille County Conservation District, and Nancy Allen, from USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service, will be available to discuss programs that are available for landowners to help meet their goals to protect forest water quality.
SAF forester licensing credits and LEAP credits are being pursued for this workshop. Foresters, Loggers, and Landowners are encouraged to attend.
Registration is not required but helpful, please RSVP by contacting Kim at (802) 888-9218 ext. 113 or kimberly.jensen@vt.nacdnet.net
