Join the first annual HUMAN POWERED PARADE in Bristol this Saturday, May 10th to celebrate national bike month with a parade of all things that roll petroleum free!
10:00 - 11:00 AM: Bike and bike helmet decorating -- plus a professional skateboarding performance starring Vermont native Collin Annie Hale at Bristol Skate Park starting at 10:30.
11:00-12:30: The HUMAN POWERED PARADE! JOIN the FIRST ANNUAL FLOAT COMPETITION! The parade will travel Bristol town streets, featuring floats, kinetic sculptures, bikes, skateboards, strollers, and more. The parade route will be populated with interactive art, dance parties and fun pop-ups.
12:30-2:00: HUMAN POWERED PARTY! Vendors will be selling local food, bike-powered goodies and gadgets and goodies to increase your non-petroleum mobility and fun! Enjoy the beats of BAND OF THE LAND, a soulful trio hailing from deep within Vermont’s Green Mountains with sounds reflecting acoustic, folk, soul, and reggae roots. Local organizations will spread the word about public transit, safety, fitness and biking infrastructure.
This new event is brought to you by the Living Tree Alliance and its founder Melanie Kessler, with the support of Addison County’s Safe Routes to Schools programs, the Addison County Walk-Bike Council, Local Motion, the Bristol Police Department, and Middlebury Underground.
General Admission is FREE. Donations benefit Addison County’s Safe Routes to Schools programs and the Addison County Walk-Bike Council.
