Are you interested in understanding and recognizing invasive species better? Are you concerned you might have some on your own property or have you noticed them along our roads and in other places? Invasive plants are taking over Vermont's forests, fields and waterways. They overrun our native plants, pose human health risks, and damage our vital working lands economy. There are actions landowners can take to reduce the spread and impact of invasive plants. Join Bob Hyams of Habitat Restoration Solutions, LLC and Caitlin Cusack from Vermont Land Trust to learn about these plants and strategies to manage them. This event is offered in collaboration with the Huntington Conservation Commission and the Association of Vermont Conservation Commission.
The group will meet at the Huntington Public Library this Saturday, May 20th at 9 AM for the initial presentation and then travel to demonstration sites together around 10:30 to get some hands on experience with both recognizing and removing invasive species. Come at 9 and enjoy some snacks and refreshments while taking in the presentation or come at 10:30 ready to get your hands dirty. Please dress appropriately.
There is no rain date. Weather-related cancellation information will be posted at vlt.org/events. For more information, contact Cara Gauthier at cgauthier@vlt.org or (802) 262-1222.
