Have you written memories of your life? Would you like to share or begin?
The Community Senior Center is very excited to sponsor an evening of memoir sharing on June 7 at 7:00 PM in the Richmond Free Library.
We want to celebrate the work produced in Jane Vossler's Senior Center Memoir Writing Workshop, as well as to encourage other local memoir writers.
Our honored guest, Winifred Walsh Doane, who has been a part-time Richmond resident for many years, will share her experience after retiring as an internationally recognized geneticist and wondering what comes next. She found one answer in writing. Winifred will read selections from her memoir Backflashes.
Through this event we are hoping to encourage everyone to record memories. Writing and sharing memories can be life-changing for the writer and the reader/listener. A family is more united when stories of the day are shared around the kitchen table. And multiple generations can support each other through the years, if the stories are recorded. A community is stronger when memories are shared, deepening respect for each other through insights into what has shaped us.
Are you writing memories of your life? Or do you possess a memoir written by a family member? If yes, we would love for you to share a bit of these with us on June 7th. If you would like to participate, please contact me and we can talk more about this. Thank you! 434-3220 martha3@gmavt.net.
Regardless, please save the date and join us at Richmond Free Library. It just might change your life!
