Dear Marlboro Residents,

We want to document our Vermont support for democracy and civil rights.
You are invited to stand up for democracy and get your picture taken with the home-grown, locally funded, Vermont made "We Celebrate Democracy/Civil Rights For All" street banner on Sunday May 21st at 10 am in front of the Marlboro Post Office (rain date the 28th). The 25' x 3' banner was hung over Main Street in Brattleboro from April 23rd to the 30th. About 60 people attended a very sweet banner-inspired candle light vigil for democracy at Pliny park in Brattleboro on the 23rd. We have reserved the space to fly the banner again over Main Street In Brattleboro from June 25th to July 2nd. We plan to carry the banner in the Brattleboro 4th of July parade. We got a great picture of the banner with a few supporters in front of the Brattleboro PO on April 23rd. Post cards made from the picture will be on sale at Everyone's Books in Brattleboro. We would like to get a similar picture in front of the Marlboro PO. That is why we are calling on you.

The banner is a traveling banner and is available for other towns to fly over their main streets. Thanks to all of you for funding the banner and for your support of this project.

"Democracy " means "People Power". Democracy is civil rights. Democracy is all people equal before the law. People around the world cherish the promise of democracy. Democracy and civil rights say "I love you" to all people. The Southern Poverty Law Center says: Hold love up in the face of hate. We say: Celebrate civil rights with the banner in front of the PO on Sunday.

You will receive a free postcard made from a photo of the gathering. And you may also get your smiling picture in the Reformer and the Commons.

This banner project is funded by small local donations. Please make a donation.

By attending this event you agree to behave nonviolently in word and in deed.
