Bella Voce Spring Concert

Past event
May 21, 2017, 3 to 5 PM

Spring is finally here! What better way to celebrate than with Bella Voce’s “Holst and Harp” concerts. Bask in the warmth of Gustav Holst’s exotic music for women’s voices with harp. Holst, an English composer best known for his symphonic work The Planets, was captivated by Eastern music and religions and included references to both in his choral music. The concert will include Holst's lush Choral Hymns from the Rig Veda and his evocative Two Eastern Pictures: Spring and Summer. The superb artistry of harpist Rebecca Kauffman will be featured in these pieces. In addition to Holst’s music, Artistic Director Dawn Willis has masterfully assembled a potpourri of works by Samuel Barber, Francis Poulenc, Moses Hogan, Sir David Willcocks and the U.S. premiere of two pieces by Austrian/Vermont Composer Richard Stöhr.
